Chub Weightloss Update!

Unfortunately Chub does not come baring great news this week.  I actually gained 1 lb this last week and I'm back at 378lbs.  I wasn't too surprised when I saw the extra pound this week.  Quite honestly I was a bit relieved that it wasn't much more.  I know why I gained the pound, and I know what I did wrong.

For now it's back on the grind I go.  I am sick once again, so I haven't had much going on as far as working out is concerned (I think I've been sick the whole month of March).

My goal was to be 360 (32lbs lost) by the end of March, and it is starting to seem a bit impossible.  All I can do is continue to try.

BTW, congratulations STEVE, for joining the weight loss train.  Now, don't go showing Grip and myself up too much!!  Good luck bro.  You are lucky you started late, or else the Johnson's wold have destroyed you, lol.

Chub Update! Weight Loss Challenge, results.

So another week has gone and come.  I never knew the month of February could be so much fun.  So many events, so much food, and so little time to exercise.

Let's see, I had my nephews bday on the 10th (pizza, subway, and cake were on the menu).  I had a baby shower to attend on Saturday (fried chicken and rice w/tortillas were on the menu).   Went to V-Day dinner with family and friends to Palermos ( Fettuccini  Alfredo, yum).  V-Day dinner with the wifey at Gold Class Cinemas (couple drinks, appetizers, skewers, and dessert on the menu).

Pretty much a diet disaster.  Oh and did I mention that I have a trip to Palms Springs this weekend?  Yup.  Let's see I wonder if there will be any type of delicious foods while I'm there.....hmmmmm, yeah, I'm sure there will be. UGH!

Today, I weighed in at 382, AGAIN.  I am going to work my butt off these next three days to make sure I don't gain any weight while on my trip this weekend.  If I come back from Palms Springs weighing 382 I will consider that a moral victory!

Chub's Diet Update! Weigh in.

Today the scale was definitely not a friend.  I knew there was nothing but disappointment in stored for me this morning.  I wouldn't say I overate over the weekend, but I will say all my food choices were super unhealthy.  It's very difficult to be in a room full of people stuffing their faces with chips, pizza, and chocolates (Super Bowl Sunday).  Now I must face the consequences of my actions.  Today I weighed in at 381.8, for those of you who remember my last weigh in I was at 380.  Just over the period of a week I've gained about 2 lbs
.
It's seems as if the further along I am on the diet the more unmotivated I become.  I don't seem to have the desire to ever want to exercise, and unhealthy food choices are always on my mind.  I'm not sure what it is.  I use to love going to the gym (well as much as a fat person can).  The high I would get after a great workout was amazing, but now after a workout all I can think about is being glad that its over.  I guess I just have to figure it out.  If not these pounds aren't going anywhere, and some are sure to start coming back.

Super Bowl Anxiety, Chub Weight loss Update!

I'm not going to go on and on about how hard it is to be on a diet during "special occasions," but jeez it feels like every special occasion is geared towards stuffing our faces with food.

It seems like every time I turn around there is an excuse to eat out or pick unhealthy choices to eat.  It feels like a losing battle for me.  How can anyone choose to eat a celery stick over a slice of pizza?  Even then the celery stick is usually full of ranch dip (FYI:  I hate Ranch Dip, it smells like rotten eggs).

The Super Bowl is only minutes away from commencing, and instead of being happy, cheerful, or excited, I am full of anxiety.  I hate feeling guilty for wanting to eat pizza or any other food that I know is not good for me (FYI: Pizza is my favorite!  I could eat it all day everyday).

Is this going to be life for me as far as food is concerned?  I guess when you look at the big picture, if I don't cut back there is not going to be a "me" pretty soon.  Oh how I envy you skinny people!   I know, I know, everyone has their own demons.  I just wish mine were not thrown in my face every two seconds.  You would literally have to live in a hole/cave somewhere to get away from all the temptation.

Tuesday is my weigh in, I'll let you all know how that goes.  Till then, stay strong my friends!

Weight Loss Updated! Chub's Results for January!

The first month of the Weight Loss Challenge is officially in the books.  I cannot say that I am super excited about my performance, but I am pleased that I lost some weight.

Sometimes it just seems that the sacrifices I am making are not worth the weight I am losing.  I feel like I should be losing more.  I guess I just have to be happy with my results because at the end of the day they are positive ones.

So when I started The Challenge in January I weighed:

Today, 1 month later, I weigh:

I've lost a total of 12lbs.  Not too shabby!  The one thing I am proud of is that I didn't use any type of shakes, pills, or remedies to lose the 12lbs.  It was all natural.  Eating less and exercising.  For those of you that don't know, a few months ago I did an extreme challenge to lose 30lbs in 30 days, and I gained every single pound back that I lost.  I'm hoping this time it will not be the same because I am learning to eat better instead.

We will see what the next two months have in stored for Grip and I.  Wish us Luck!

Yeah, I wrote a poem.

Tragedy I breed

These crazy thoughts as of late seem to alarm me
What was once a great scene of a glorious me
Has transformed to a self inflicted tragedy
Thoughts of my own demise
Although they bring tears to my eyes
Seem to comfort me.
For this scene breeds love that's Divine.
As people come together to weep, just for me!
Finding the love that I seek within a tragedy may seem absurd and obscene
But these scenes in my head as of late
 It seems I cannot escape.
For I seem to have found the love that I seek
In my own self inflicted tragedy.

Okay, so I've never wrote a poem before!  I was inspired by Husk and Melissa to give it a shot.  Found it to be a soothing process.  Maybe there is more to this poetry?  We will see.

LMAO! What 5 seconds can say about a person!

As the Green Bay Packers prepare for one of the biggest games (NFC Championship) of the year, the last thing their QB (Aaron Rodgers) needs is bad publicity.  This morning we all woke up to the buzz of Aaron being the worst guy on the planet.  A guy who disses recovering elderly cancer patients by not giving them 2 mins of his time to sign an autograph.  Geese Aaron stop being such a D**K. HA!

We all know the media tends to take the smallest of stories and blow them up for absolutely no reason at all.  Well sure enough this Rodgers' story is just another blown up media story depicting the poor guy as a horrible individual for no reason what-so-ever.  "So what happened?", you ask....check out the video below (yeah it was caught on tape!).

After seeing that, one cannot help but to feel a bit upset with the way Mr. Rodgers just seems to mow over the lady.  The fact of the matter is that Aaron had previously given the die-hard Packers fan a whole bunch of autographs and he was just in a hurry to get on the plane.  In addition, right before walking into the airport he took the time to sign other autographs as well.  Crazy what two mins of tape can say about a person.  I guess lesson learned for anyone in the public eye.  You are always being judged!

I've posted the video below with the reply of the individual and how she felt about the buzz the video created!

So there you have it.  Simple mistake, Aaron Rodgers is not really out to hurt old ladies by stealing their 401K's or pension plans. HA!

It's FRIDAY! Chub's Weight Loss Challenge Update!

That's right, it's FRIDAY!  The most glorious day of the work week.  Although, what many of you may not know is that FRIDAY is the worst day of the week for a person on a diet.  "Why?," you ask.  It's because Friday is the gateway to the two days in which most dieters fall of the wagon (thump).  Saturday and Sunday are when most people end up eating out, going to parties, or sitting around all day.  I must admit I am a little scared of leaving the sanctuary of my Monday through Friday food schedule and facing this weekend.

I have two events to attend this weekend.  Each event will definitely have food, and one of them will also have alcohol (two of my weaknesses).  I'm not going to pretend and say I am going to be a rock and not try anything unhealthy because I would be lying.  I will have to come up with something quickly and hope it works!

If any of you have any advice on how to be successful over the weekends, please, I would love to hear from you.  Give me some tips, I need all the help I can get.

A couple things to note before I go.....

1.  I've gone to the gym for a full week now, and I'm already seeing improvements in my workouts!
2.  Logging your food down really helps out with making conscious efforts in your food choices.

I'll report my weight loss on Monday, hopefully this weekend doesn't derail me!

Country Strong! Movie Review.

Had the pleasure of checking out Country Strong yesterday during date night with my wifey.  For those of you that don't know Country Strong stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Tim McGraw, Garrett Hedlund, and Leighton Messter.

The story is based around fallen seasoned Country singing sensation Kelly Canter (Gwyneth Paltrow), and her fight back to the top through a 10 city tour.  Along side Kelly are new up and coming Country singers Chiles Stanton (Leighton Meester) and Beau Hutton (Garrett Hedlund).  The tour itself is managed by Kelly Canter's husband, James Canter (Tim McGraw) who's love for Kelly as a wife has disappeared, but his love for Kelly the singer has not.

The story itself was great, but too predictable.  Within the first 20 minutes or so as a member of the audience you will know what kind of movie Country Strong is going to be.  There is a nice twist in the movie, but other than the music I don't have anything to particularly rave about.

I don't regret watching it, but on my Chub rating scale this movie is definitely a NetFlix pick or rent it pick.

Almost a Week of Dieting!

Today is Saturday, and I am almost through a whole week of dieting/The Fitness Challenge.  I can't say I am too proud of my performance, but I am not displeased either.

I did accomplish a couple of the goals that I set for myself for the first week of the diet.  1. Join a gym, CHECK! 2. Attend the gym at least twice this week, CHECK!  HOORAY for me!

Now for some reality checks.....I didn't do so great Monday through Wednesday.  I ate like I would have normally without any conscious effort of decreasing calorie intake or increasing any exercise efforts.  I finally realize that the most difficult thing for me will be food control, which I guess is the first step in the right direction.  I've been logging all the food I consume in a handy little app, and lets just say my calorie intake is really out of control.  Getting to the gym, now that I've join, is not too bad.  I have a good friend helping along with the process, and as long as I can avoid being annoyed by all the idiots at the gym who are there to socialize rather than work out, then I should be okay.

I will still report my weight loss, if any, on Monday.  Either way I am confident when I say, "NEXT  WEEK WILL BE A GREAT WEEK!"

Day 1 Grip Vs. The AWESOME CHUB!

I know day one is not officially over, heck it's not even half way through, but I felt like blogging about it already.  Not sure why this time around I am feeling an overwhelming sense of urgency with this "diet/Challenge."  Maybe it's my age or maybe because I truly now understand that this weight is going to REALLY KILL me if I don't put a stop to it quickly.

As I laid in bed last night I couldn't stop picturing my own funeral.  Listening to the people chit chat back and forth and going on and on about how weight was a never ending battle for me.  I'm not sure if this way of thinking is border line narcissistic, or an outlet to have pity for myself since there is no one else to blame for my situation other than myself.  Funny thing is that while all these crazy thoughts are running through my mind the only looming, or should I say piercing thought, over all other thoughts is that I will die without ever doing a pull up.  I know, right?  I could just picture your faces when reading that sentence.  A PULL UP?  WTF?

I will not get too into the why, but one of my bucket list items is to do two pull ups (there is a huge back story to this, but I will share on another day).  Call me crazy, but I am hoping this year will be that year.  I am extremely overweight (391 lbs) and will need to work harder than ever before.  The only difference now is that my motivation is higher than ever before.  I want to live and enjoy life to the fullest.  NOW, I truly believe that.  I am tired of looking in the mirror and seeing death's shadow looming over me.  GO AWAY!!!!  I am not ready!

This year I will take my life back.
