The Super Bowl Menu?

The Super Bowl is coming up in about a week and it is time for those to start making plans on where you are going to watch the game or what you will be serving for your party. Right off the top of my head, hot dogs and burgers are the types of foods that I would expect to eat on that wonderful Sunday afternoon. It seems that those who are lucky enough to get tickets to watch the game in one of the Dallas Cowboys stadium luxury boxes will experience a different type of menu. Check out the menu at The Stir and let me know what types of food you would prefer on Super Bowl Sunday.

La Naranja, Food Review!

I know many of you are not from the Los Angeles area, but if you are you have to stop by La Naranja (just make sure you have your bullet proof vest on if you are scared of the hood. HA!)
La Naranja has done something many Mexican Food joints cannot do once they've gotten bigger than there taco stand, which is keep the taco stand taste.  La Naraja actually has a taco stand within the restaurant.  I know, I know, many of you may be thinking "GHETTO," but for $.95 a taco I am willing to dodge a bullet or two. Did I mention a family of four could eat for around $20 here, which is unheard of now-a-days.

Not only do they have awesome tacos, but nearly everything on there menu is YUMMY!  When considering everything (Food Taste, Price, Quantity) La Naranja gets a Five out Five Chubsters Sopa Spoons.  Congratulations La Naranja, for keeping it real and authentic!

La Naranja is located at:
2333 Daly St
Los Angeles, Ca 90031

Chicago For Ribs! Food Review.....

Today I had the opportunity to visit "A Class Rib Joint," according to the slogan used by Chicago for Ribs.  HA!

Chicago for Ribs definitely did not live up to the hype.  Don't get me wrong, their ribs are definitely eatable, but I expect a whole lot more from a joint that has RIBS in the restaurant's title.

I had an order of baby back pork ribs along with some mashed potatoes and cornbread.  The only thing really worth raving about would be the cornbread.   When taking everything into consideration (price, quantity, and flavor) I give Chicago for Ribs 3 Chubster Sopa Spoons out of 5.  I was originally going to give it a 2, but the service was actually really good and the restaurant was really presentable.

If you are really in the mood for ribs ,and there is no other rib joint around for about 20 miles, then I would recommend this joint.

So there you have it.  The Chubster's review on Chicago for Ribs!  Till we eat again!

Truth about foods!

According to Men's Health there seems to be quite a bit of myths that plague certain foods we eat and therefore avoid.  Many of them due to scientists and researchers jumping to conclusions when it comes to certain amounts of one particular food.  Below are 15 popular myths about foods many of us have come to believe as truth over the years!

Myths:
1.  Too much protein hurts your kidneys.
2.  Sweet potatoes are healthier than white potatoes
3.  Red meat causes cancer
4.  High-fructose corn syrup is more fattening than regular sugar
5.  Too much salt causes high blood pressure
6.  Chocolate bars are empty calories
7.  Gas station snacks are nutritional nightmares
8.  Restaurants comply with nutrition disclosure
9.  Sports drinks are ideal after-workout refreshment

10.  You need 38 grams of fiber a day
11.  Saturated fat will clog your heart
12.  Reduced-fat foods are healthier alternative
13.  Diet soda is better for you
14.  Skipping meals helps you lose weight
15.  You should eat three times a day

The article is truly fascinating, and I feel everyone should take a quick second to read it.  It will give you in depth explanation as to why it became a myth and why it truly isn't one.  If you see a Myth that you can relate to, or are interested in, go ahead and click below to read the full article.

Poquito Mas. Food Review!

Over the weekend I took the Husk man to a place I frequent called Poquito Mas (Baja Mexico Mix of food, ranging from Fish Tacos and Shrimp Burritos and all the Asada favs).  I try and refrain from reviewing places that I frequent because I do not like providing you Chubbies with a bias review.  So, I took this chance to have Husk give me his opinion on Poquito Mas, check out his video response.

I personally give Poquito Mas Four Sopa Spoons out of Five.  Poquito Mas has great flavor, great employees, great portions, and even greater salsa and chips, but it does not have a great price.  Poquito Mas, in my opinion, is a little overpriced for being more a fast food option than a complete sit down restaurant.

If you are ever in the Torrance area, you can find Poquito Mas in the Rolling Hills Plaza.  Tell'em The Chubster sent you!  They wont know who I am, but that's okay they soon will!  HA!
