Carmelo to the Nets!!!!

The Nets are close to completing a 3 team 13 player trade that would send Carmelo Anthony, Richard Hamilton, Chauncy Billups, Anthony Carter and Sheldon Williams to New Jersey; also the Denver Nuggets would receive 2 first round draft picks, Devin Harris,  Derrick Favors,  Anthony Morrow, Ben Uzoh, Stephen Graham and Quinton Ross. The Detroit Pistons would receive Troy Murphy and Johan Petro. If completed this trade would tie for the largest trade in league history.



It seems the tide is turning on which conference is the best, for years the West was the best (yes I know it rhymed) but in the last few years the East has made quite a few blockbuster trades and now is the power conference. With that being said, does this make the Nets a title contender?

There is no doubt that Carmelo (Melo) is one of the best players in the league, but does he really make his teammates better? Not from what I have seen.  In my opinion that is what separates the men from the boys. Great players like Jordan, Bird, Magic and yes even Bryant all make their teammates better. The Nets will most likely make the playoffs, but I doubt they make it past the first round.

All I know is it takes more than a few superstars to take a team to the finals and win a championship, it takes chemistry. This is always overlooked and may be the biggest factor in winning championships. I guess only time will tell if this trade will result in a championship or not.


Please let me know if you think Carmelo will make a difference along with the others, or is it going to be another failed experiment?
