My Views On American Idol

American Idol never ceases to amaze me (and sometimes not in a good way either). I've been watching this show off and on since season 2. I missed a few seasons and then started to really watch it again during season 8 (when I became a huge Adam Lambert fan haha).  Here is what I have learned over the past seasons:

• There is always going to be some kind of controversy. 
• Fans will start "boycotting" the show after their favorite gets booted off. 
• The right person never really wins. 

I've always thought that this show's voting system was messed up. Some say it's rigged. Could it be? Yeah, probably. But, what people have to realize is that the majority of people who are hardcore voters are teenage girls. Girls who like to vote for the hottest guy on the show (whether they can sing or not.)

Last night, a fan favorite, Pia, was voted off in a "shocking" results show. Personally, I really wasn't that shocked and here is why. Yeah, she can sing better than anyone else on that show, but she is kind of a bland performer. At least I thought so. I never really remembered her performances after the show. That and maybe she was "too good" to be on the show. When you pull of the singing she does, people tend to think "oh, she'll be okay. Someone will vote for her." And then nobody does. That's how she went home. People got lazy and thought she was safe.  Don't ever think your favorite is safe. That's always how they get sent home.

Now, fans are pitching a fit because they don't think it's fair. Maybe she did deserve to be there. I kind of thought Paul was going home (I don't see how he has made it this far..) or Stefano. I feel bad for that guy because you could see how he felt he should have went home. You could see the confusion and guilt on his face.

I see another guy winning this season. Personally, I see Scotty (the teenage country singer) winning the whole thing. I can't stand country music but the girls think he's cute and so they vote for him.  So, there is my prediction. If you're upset about your favorite not winning, let me say something. Most winners aren't very successful. The only two that really made it are Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. Adam Lambert didn't win and look at all of the success he is getting.

So, fans, stop taking the show so seriously. It's really more of a joke than anything else now with the change in judges. I'm disappointed in what they have brought to the table. According to them, everyone is "so good" when some of them aren't. We need someone to grow a pair and gain some of Simon's brutal honesty. Tell a contestant they suck when they do. The worst thing the judges have said to these guys is "you're a little pitchy."
